Sad Day on First Colonists’ Voyage
Five days earlier, Peter Gordon had recorded a happy day in the voyage of the first Georgia colonists (see entry), but on this day he recorded a sad occurrence:
“…about six in the morning Mr. Canons child about eight months old was found dead in the bed, and the same day about five oclock the child was putt in a wooden box, and buried in the sea, Doctor Herbert performing the prayers…”
