Difficult Report to Trustees
William Stephens wanted to make a positive report to the Trustees back in England, but struggled on how to do it:
“Returned now to my former Task, how to set the present State of the Colony in its due Light before the honourable the Trustees, as they required: Wherein I met with such Contrariety of Opinion, among divers whom I conversed with, touching some of those Questions that were to be resolved, that it was a great Difficulty how to reconcile them… .”
