Civil War Soldier Proud of His Part in Battle

A Georgia solder wrote home to his wife, proud of the accomplishments of the Seven Days’ Battles.

“…We have had one of the greatest battles ever fought on this continent and have drove the grand army of the North from every position they have taken. We have lost a great many men, but that must needs have been. We have taken over 10,000 prisoners. I hope that this will stop the war, but it may not. …”
