Conflicting Notions in Letter
A Georgia Civil War soldier wrote home to his mother with conflicting notions - first telling her how sick he was, but then asking her not to worry.
“…I will inform you that I am not very well.. I am badly pestered with risings on me. I think they originate from impure vaccination. I am afraid that my health is injured on the account I have been afflicted with sores all this spring. The doctors says it may never get out of my blood. I have not been able for duty for several days nor dont know when I will be. But now dont think that I am sick and be uneasy about me…”
