Deadly Thunderstorm Recorded
In his journal, William Stephens recorded a Georgia weather phenomenon rarely seen in England - a violent thunderstorm. As it turned out, this one proved deadly:
“…This Afternoon a terrible Accident happened by Thunder and Lightning, which Bursting over the Town, Struck thro the Widow Fitzwalters house, where she and her Son and Daughter … [were] sitting. The Young Woman was struck dead, and the Plaistering of the house shatter’d to Dust… .”
