White Christmas in North Georgia
Except for the Blue Ridge Mountains of extreme north Georgia, “White Christmas” is either a popular seasonal song or a weather oxymoron for the rest of the state. However, for the first time since 1882, Atlanta and most of the northern third of Georgia got measurable snow - from one to six inches - on Christmas Day of 2010. The snow began after Christmas presents had been opened and continued through the night, giving many Georgians a once-in-a-century treat.
