Sleeping Cars Segregated

Gov. Allen Candler approved a law requiring sleeping car and railroad companies operating sleeping car in Georgia to provide segregated compartments, except in the case of a black nurse or servant traveling with their employer. Conductors and other railroad employees were given “full police power” to enforce this requirement.
