Upson and Ware Counties Created

Gov. George Troup signed legislation creating Upson and Ware counties. Upson County, Georgia’s 59th, was created from Crawford and Pike counties and named for Georgia politician and planter Stephen Upson. Ware County, Georgia’s 60th, was created from Appling County and named for Georgia U.S. Sen. Nicholas Ware.
