Premiere of “Gone With the Wind”

The world premier of “Gone With the Wind” was held in Atlanta at the Loew’s Grand Theater. By 6 p.m., crowds had gathered to watch Clark Gable, Vivian Leigh, and the film’s other stars arrive. The greatest applause of the evening, however, was reserved for the novel’s author, Margaret Mitchell.
