Griswoldville Burned

Ten miles east of Macon, Sherman’s forces entered the small community of Griswoldville and burned Samuel Griswold’s pistol factory, which had supplied thousands of Confederate sidearms. Also burned was a mill, a soap and candle factory, locomotive, railroad cars, and one third of the town.
