Albany Civil Rights Museum Opened
One day before the 37th anniversary of the launching of the “Albany Movement,” the Albany Civil Rights Museum opened in Albany, Georgia. Created as an educational center highlighting the role the Albany-area played in the civil rights movement - particularly during the early 1960s - the museum is housed in the restored Mount Zion Church, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
