Andrew Young Elected to Congress

Andrew Young was one of sixteen blacks elected to Congress. Young became the first black elected to Congress from the Deep South since the Reconstruction period. He was also the second black Congressman to be elected from Georgia (the first being Jefferson Long, who was elected in 1870).
