Henry Wirz Convicted

Henry Wirz, interior commandant of the Confederate military prison at Andersonville, Georgia, was found guilty by a Special Military Commission of murdering Union prisoners of war. He would be hanged just over a week later on November 10, the only Confederate officer executed for his actions after the Civil War.
