Returning Veterans Boosted Sales

The Atlanta Constitution reported that department store sales in Atlanta were up 14% from the previous year, this despite several strikes at textile mills around the country. Furthermore sales were expected to stay high throughout the Christmas season. Most of the increased sales were attributed to veterans returning home from World War II.
