College Football Hall of Fame to Atlanta
National Football Foundation officials announced that the College Football Hall of Fame would be moving to Atlanta from South Bend, Indiana. In 1995, the collegiate hall of fame had moved from Kings Mills, Ohio, to South Bend with the hopes that its nearness to Notre Dame would spur attendance. But, in South Bend, attendance averaged only 60,000 visitors per year. The National Football Foundation, which administers the hall of fame, decided to move the museum to Atlanta, where a new building will be constructed next to Centennial Olympic Park, with a anticipated opening date of 2012 (it would actually not open until 2014).
