Dukakis Accepted Nomination in Atlanta

At the Democratic Party’s National Convention in Atlanta’s Omni, Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis accepted his party’s presidential nomination. Click here to view the text of his acceptance speech. The convention unanimously accepted Dukakis’s choice of Texas Senator Lloyd Bentsen as his vice presidential running mate, giving the party an optimistic mood of being able to defeat Republican George H.W. Bush in the November 1988 presidential election.
