Teresa Edwards Born

University of Georgia basketball great Teresa Edwards was born in Cairo, Georgia. She would go on to become an Olympic basketball player, winning gold medals in 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996. She is the only American basketball player - male or female - to compete in give Olympic games. Edwards also played women’s professional basketball for the Atlanta Glory of the American Basketball League and Minnesota Lynx of the Women’s National Basketball Association. In 2008, Edwards was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, and in 2010 into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
