Whig Party First State Convention

Georgia’s Whig party held its first state convention in Milledgeville. With John M. Berrien presiding, delegates nominated George W. Crawford as the Whig candidate for governor and voted to send ten delegates to the national Whig convention scheduled to meet in May 1844 in Baltimore, Maryland.
