Jefferson Davis Departed Savannah

Concluding his 6-day visit to Savannah, Jefferson Davis boarded a train to return to Beauvoir, his home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. During Davis’s westward journey, his train stopped briefly at Waycross, Valdosta, and Albany, where crowds and bands greeted the ex-Confederate president.
