New Coke Announced

The Coca-Cola Company announced it was changing the 99-year-old secret flavor formula for Coke, the world’s best-selling soft drink, with a successor known as “New Coke.” The new version, designed to compete with the sweeter-tasting Pepsi Cola, was touted as “the most significant soft drink development” in Coke history. Unfortunately, customers didn’t embrace New Coke. In fact, they organized for the return of the original formula, which Coca-Cola soon reintroduced under the name “Classic Coke.”
