Armistice Signed Effectively Ending Civil War

Union General William T. Sherman and Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston signed an armistice memorandum at Durham Station, North Carolina. Because Georgia was under Gen. Johnston’s command, it was clear that the Civil War would soon end for Georgia.
