Walt Frazier Born

Basketball great Walt Frazier was born in Atlanta, Georgia. After playing collegiate ball at Southern Illinois, Frazier was selected in the first round of the NBA draft by the New York Knicks in 1967. Frazier was the mainstay of the Knicks for the next decade, an All Star seven times, and an All Defensive Team member seven times. His cool demeanor on the court and flamboyant style off the court earned him the nickname “Clyde.” He averaged 18.9 points and 6.1 assists per game throughout his career, improving his scoring average to 20.7 points per game in the playoffs. Frazier led the Knicks to NBA titles in 1970 and 1973. After spending his last few playing years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he retired in 1979. Frazier was elected to the NBA Hall of Fame in 1987.
