Floral Wreath on Oglethorpe’s Tomb

Gov. Eugene Talmadge approved a joint resolution in which the General Assembly directed him to arrange to have a floral wreath be placed on the tomb of Georgia founder on Sunday, Feb. 12, 1933 in recognition of the bicentennial of Georgia’s founding. The resolution correctly noted that Oglethorpe was buried inside the Cranham church in Essex County, England. Actually, his tomb is beneath the chancel floor under the red carpet that divides the choir pews at the front of the church.
