Thoma Butler King European Commissioner

Gov. Joseph E. Brown appointed coastal planter Thomas Butler King as commissioner to Queen Victoria of Great Britain, Napoleon III of France, and the King Leopold of Belgium to explain the reasons for and consequences of Georgia’s secession and to further promote direct trade with Georgia.
