Governor Authority Reduced

Gov. Ellis Arnall signed legislation removing the governor as an ex officio member of the State Board of Education, State Board of Regents, Department of Public Safety, and State Housing Authority. The act was part of series of proposals by Arnall to reduce the powers of the governor – specifically over education – following the administrations of Eugene Talmadge.
