Colonists Arrived in Charleston

After almost two months at sea, James Oglethorpe and Georgia’s first 114 colonists sailed into Charles Town harbor aboard the ship Anne. Upon arriving, Oglethorpe went ashore, where he was warmly welcomed by South Carolina governor Robert Johnson and the speaker of the Commons House of Assembly.
