Georgia Air Depot

One month and one day from the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the first buildings of the new Georgia Air Depot were completed. The wooden structure was a complex of four buildings serving as the depot’s administrative offices, barracks, cafeteria, and dispensary. Located on a former dairy farm in Wellston, Ga., these were used as headquarters of the Army Corps of Engineers, which was building a new base for the Army Air Corps. Later, the facility would become Robins Air Force Base.
