Editorial Argued North Wanted to Subjugate South

The Southern Federal Union of Milledgeville printed an editorial entitled “The Desperation of the Enemy,” which argued that the North did not really wish to bring the South back into a harmonious Union, but to cripple and subjugate it. Interestingly the editorial mentioned the “soft words” of one man who would later be viewed as anything but soft - William T. Sherman.
