Letter Asked What Manufacturing Changes Had Occurred

The Southern Recorder of Milledgeville printed a request sent from the Confederate Secretary of the Treasury to the mayor of Milledgeville (and to other cities), ascertaining what changes in manufacturing had occurred since the beginning of the war. Lack of such facilities, or their destruction, would hamper the war effort in the South.
