Resolution to Give Furloughed Soldiers Free Transportation
The Georgia General Assembly adopted a resolution encouraging the Confederate Congress to grant all soldiers on furlough free transportation on railroads.
Full Title: Resolutions granting free transportation to soldiers on furlough. Resolved by the General Assembly of Georgia, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be requested to procure the passage of an act, granting free transportation to all private soldiers in the Confederate service, on furlough from their respective commands, to their homes; and to return to their commands, in the same manner, that free transportation is now granted to soldiers on sick furlough. [Sidenote: Our’ members in Congress requested to procure an act for free transportation of furloughed soldiers.] Approval Date: Approved Nov. 26, 1863.
