This Day in Georgia Civil War History

November 15, 1861

“God in the War” Sermon

This day was proclaimed by both Confederate President Jefferson Davis and Georgia Governor Joseph E. Brown as a day of fasting, humiliation, and prayer. In accordance with those proclamations, Henry H. Tucker delivered a sermon to the Georgia General Assembly called “God in the War.” Click here to read the full text of the sermon.

The Daily Federal Union of Milledgeville opted to observe the day of fasting and prayer by not producing a paper.
