Diary Entry on Hiding Food from Yankees
A Georgia man wrote in his journal of hiding food from Yankee foragers.
“This day devoted to hiding out wheat, two boxes in the farmer field, 80 bushels. Little hands pulling fodder of syrup-cane in the patches. Will put out some barrels of syrup this day making preparation for the evil time coming should it come… .” Source: Franklin M.
