Milledgeville Newspapers Reacted to Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation

The Southern Recorder of Milledgeville predicted a catastrophic reaction to the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.

The Confederate Union printed an even more strongly worded editorial concerning the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation; insisting there could never be peace while Lincoln was president, and that abolition had been his goal all along.
