Cobb Ordered All Georgia Volunteers into Regiments
Confederate General Howell Cobb was appointed commander of all the Georgia State Troops; his headquarters was to be in Atlanta. One of his first orders was to command all volunteer companies and battalions not yet formed into regiments to do so by November 1. The text of the order was printed in various newspapers; the one shown here is from the Daily Intelligencer of Atlanta.
