Union Troops Ordered to Lee and Gordon’s Mills; Chickamauga Campaign

Skirmishes continued around Lee and Gordon’s Mills, building towards the Battle of Chickamauga. Union General William Rosecrans, who had divided his army in attempts to continue to out flank the Confederate army under Braxton Bragg, realized Bragg was gathering his forces to try and destroy the separate parts of the Union army. So he ordered his troops to gather around Lee and Gordon’s Mills.

The Richmond Times Dispatch reported on several of the skirmishes in Georgia.
