Soldier was Sick and Hungry
A Georgia soldier, writing home to his wife, tells her of being ill and not having much to eat.
“…I have got a bad cold an some fever but I hope I will soon be over that. I have got a fever an the trimbles so I cant hardly write so you can understand it. I was very sorry to hear that you an the children was all so sick I hope you will soon be well again. …I want you to be as saving as you can an keep all the money you can for it takes about all I draw to keep me half enough to eat besides what provisions I draw. …” Source: Katherine S.
