Disease Rampant at Andersonville

From Camp Sumter - Andersonville prison - the Chief Surgeon reported that 21% of the 30,000 prisoners were sick, including 5010 in the stockade and 1305 in the hospital. Scurvy was rampant due to scarce and unhealthy food, the commissary was without funds, and many inmates had no shelter.
