Andersonville Hospital Enlarged, to Little Avail
At Camp Sumter - Andersonville prison - the inmate hospital was enlarged to accommodate 1400 patients, but this did little to improve conditions. 6315 of the 30,000 prisoners were sick with scurvy, gangrene, or dysentery, along with 517 of the 2700 Confederates on post.
