Stoneman Raid Reached Macon

The Stoneman Raid had reached Macon by this time, after plundering much of the way since leaving Kennesaw Mountain. They found the Union officers that had been kept prisoner there had been moved, so Stoneman began lobbing shells into the city. Militia led by General Howell Cobb opposed him.
