Quiet Fourth of July

A native of Atlanta noted in his diary the relatively quiet passing of a previously festive holiday.

“Friday 4th. The once ‘Glorious Fourth’ has passed by very quietly this year. A Fireman’s Dinner and a few faint poppers being all the celebration vouchsafed to it.” Source: Franklin M.
