Cities Conquered, but No Submission
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Southern Confederacy of Atlanta or this day was what was NOT mentioned - no word at all on it being independence day, albeit for a “foreign, ” enemy nation. They did reprint an editorial from a London newspaper, arguing the same thing Southerners argued - that cities might be conquered, but not Southern independence.
