Letter and Editorial Presented Argument for Secession

The Southern Confederacy of Atlanta published a letter from Kentucky, along with editorial comment upon it. The items are indicative of the Southern argument for secession - that the Union was just that - a union of free men giving their consent to the Union, with the obvious inconsistency that the states inhabited by these free men also maintained the institution of slavery.
