Disturbing Report from Andersonville on Guards and Disease

From Camp Sumter - Andersonville prison - another official wrote to Confederate President Jefferson Davis that young guards in the pigeon roosts were shooting prisoners in the stockade who had not crossed the deadline. Still, disease continued to be the primary threat to the prisoners.
