Lincoln Wrote Letter to Fremont

President Abraham Lincoln wrote a letter to Georgia-born (but fighting for the Union) John C. Fremont on this day, telling him reinforcements were scarce, and that Lincoln did not believe Fremont needed them. Fremont had been unnerved by his setbacks to Stonewall Jackson in the Valley Campaign.
