Editorial Condemned Grant for Sacrificing So Many Lives

The Confederate Union of Milledgeville printed an editorial simply called “The Situation” in which they took General Ulysses S. Grant to task for his willingness to sacrifice so many soldiers to achieve his ends. The battle just beginning at Cold Harbor would give some credence to that argument. The editors also complimented the Confederate army in Georgia for halting - at least temporarily - the Union flanking movements.
