Harper’s Weekly Piece on Civil War Mentioned Two Georgians, Showed Image from Richmond
This week’s edition of Harper’s Weekly focused on the ending of the Civil War, with some recollection of how it began - their review featured two prominent Georgians - Confederate Vice-President Alexander Stephens and former U.S. Senator Robert Toombs.
Harper’s Weekly also printed a large image of the Union army entering Richmond, Virginia; notice the people on top of the buildings and the explosions and fire in the distance.
