Newspapers Held Out Faint Hope

The Confederate Union of Milledgeville admitted they had no news on the whereabouts of Lee’s army in Virginia, but did indicate a Union force was headed for Columbus. They hoped to have good news to report on those fronts soon; they would of course be disappointed.

The Southern Recorder of Milledgeville was remaining defiant and hopeful to the last - not yet knowing of the latest military reverses.
