The Southern Recorder of Milledgeville printed a list of the taxable property in Georgia, from the comptroller’s report of 1862; this clearly shows how the great majority of wealth in Georgia (as well as in other Southern states) was tied up in slaves and land.
In a related item, the Confederate Union of Milledgeville printed an editorial explaining why, in their opinion, there was so little cash in Georgia.
