Abraham Lincoln Assassinated
In Washington D.C., President Abraham Lincoln took his wife Mary to see the play “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theater. At 10:13 p.m., during the third act of the play, John Wilkes Booth burst into the presidential suite and shot Lincoln in the head. Lincoln was carried to a house across the street, where doctors vainly struggled to save him from the fatal wound, but Lincoln never regained consciousness.
