Here is the consent form signed by a Georgia mother, allowing her nineteen year old son to serve in the state of Georgia army.
While such forms as these were being signed and submitted in Georgia, the government of the Confederate States of America informed the governor of South Carolina that it was taking control of military operations in and around Charleston, including Fort Sumter.
